Tone up your body with a full range of land and water sports, from a bracing mountain like to the challenge of whitewtaer rafting. Nourish your spirit in smoothing calm or in the breathtaking grandeur of countless, inspiring natural sites from mountain peaks to sea caves.

Canoeing through calm waters into the secret world of an island grotto; riding an elephants on a trek into wild and remote forests; diving into the underwater realm of a tropical sea; cruising on a bamboo jungle-clad hills. The opportunities to experience Thailand's natural diversity at close range are near endless.

Well established as one of the world's most rewarding travel destinations, Thailand owes its popularity to the remarkable variety of its attraction, not least nature's bounty which ranges from beaches and islands to rugged hills, jungles, rivers, and waterfalls, from deep blue seas to lush green forests.

What is even more remarkable is that nature's diversity is so accessible. The Kingdom's travel infrastructure has been developed to embrace eco-tourism and opportunities to experience a wide choice of activities promoting natural health and wellbeing. Today, meditating in a forest retreat or relaxing at an oceanside spa can be part of a holiday that immerse you in a natural world of blue and green.

Between the latitude six degree and 21 degrees north, Thailand extends 1650 kilometres north to south, a span whose topography ranges from forested mountains and steep river valleys to coastline bordering the Andaman Sea in the west and the Gulf o Thailand in the east. And just as there are many shades of blue and green, so do that Kingdom's beaches, islands and hills display markedly different characteristics, each with its own special attraction.

With more than 2500 kilometres of coastline, Thailand is generously provided with sandy beaches, sheltered bays and idyllic islands. From busy fishing villages to near deserted expanses of powdery white sand, sights and scenes vary depending on location as does s the style of seaside vacations. What remains constant is the tropical climate and the year-round sunshine.

The physical composition of the coastline shifts from sandy beaches fringed with palms or casuarinas tress to rugged limestone cliffs and outcrops covered with vegetation. The main resort regions are in the Gulf of Thailand a few hours drive from Bangkok, and the deep south along both shores of the Kra Isthmus.

Many of the beaches on the Gulf of Thailand have blossomed into full-fledged resorts. Each is as distinct in character, like the fun-packed Pattaya Beach and the more typically classic resort of Hua Hin. Travel beyond these sports, however, into the eastern provinces of Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat and you'll discover near pristine coastal and island environments. Here, in Ko Chang near the Cambodian border or Chumphon below Hua Hin, are acessbile marine setting still relatively unspoiled by the developer.
