Natural healing , Thai Style Keeping the energy balance
In Thailand, traditional healing has always sought to treat the whole person - body, mind, and spirit , and most sophisticated surroundings, beginning with natural hot springs.
The healing qualities of hot sulphur springs have long been recognized, and Thailand has several, mostly situated in the North. Local people and visitors alike come in their thousands to ease tired bodies and aching limbs in the rejuvenating waters.
A good long soak in your very own tub (temperature adjusted to suit your individual needs) will freshen up even the most lethargic of bodies. The skin feels fresh and tingly, the mind feels clear and relaxed, and you're ready for more adventurous action.
What has happened, according to ancient Chinese theory, is that the "yin" and "yang" aspects of your body have been brought into balance.
When you are more yang, you are likely to feel confident, enthusiastic and in control of your life. If you become too yang, you can become aggressive impatient, intolerant and frustrated. To address these strong emotions, you would need to be more yin.
If you are more yin, you are likely to feel a sense of inner peace and at east with other people. Should you become too yin, you could feel depressed, disheartened and tearful. To change this emotional state you need to be more yang.
Yin and yang apply to all aspects of life, through your diet, the exercise you take and the way you heal yourself. One natural way of restoring and keeping this balance is to immerse yourself in the healing waters of a hot spring.
However, if you do not have time to visit the hot springs, there are many places which offer hot herbal saunas. Another very pleasant heat experience is a herbal Thai massage involving the application of hot compresses to different parts of the body. The warmth and soothing aroma of the herbs is extremely relaxing and revitalizing.
